First of all it is so important to make sure that you buy the correct style and size of horse bridle, here at Stoneybrook we can advise you on the various types available.
Stockists of John Whitaker and Heritage horse bridles, flash noseband bridles, grackle noseband bridles, cavesson noseband bridles and double bridles. All bridles available in pony, cob and full sizes. The John Whitaker bridles have a luxurious padded noseband and headpiece and are available in burgundy or black with brass fittings and come complete with rubber reins; the grackle noseband bridle has brass clips on the cheek pieces for easy change of the bit. Martingales, studguards, breastplates, diamante browbands, training aids standing attachments are also available to match.
The Heritage range also comes complete with reins, various styles available, double bridles, flash bridles, cavesson bridles, in hand bridles all available in black and havana. The Heritage range is made from good quality leather but very economically priced ideal for everyday and competition use, again with this range we stock martingales, breastplates, pelham roundings, laced reins, rubber reins, plain reins in different widths. With the reins we do stock a pony range which is shorter for the young rider and small ponies, from a safety point of view having shorter reins will help to eliminate the rider getting their feet hooked in the end of the reins. Also available martingale and rein stops, lip straps, curb chains and fulmer loops.
With regards to the fitting of a bridle, you must make sure that the bridle is neither too loose nor too tight; having a bridle that is too loose will obviously have no effect and will leave the bit resting too far down in the horses’ mouth causing discomfort, a bridle which is too tight will also cause discomfort and the bit will be too high in the horses’ mouth which will pinch each side of the mouth, causing soreness and possible bleeding.
To help keep your horse bridles in good condition we stock a range of Gold Label leather cleaners and sponges to clean your bridle with, bridles bags are also a good idea for storage this will help prolong deterioration of the leather.
